I had a credit card with Capital One. I paid off the small balance I had and closed the account on June 8th, 2010.

Or I thought I did.

I got a letter YESTERDAY that said I owed them $194.00 and that I was five payments behind. Obviously this made me confused, since I CALLED THEM IN JUNE 2010 AND CLOSED THE ACCOUNT.

Well, turns out they had made some sort of clerical error and HADN’T CLOSED THE ACCOUNT. FOR SEVENTEEN MONTHS.

AND they’d been sending erroneous notices to the credit bureaus that I was delinquent when I wasn’t.

I just called them and after 45 minutes on the phone finally got them to explain to me what happened and they are supposedly sending me a letter saying that the account was zeroed out and closed on November 7th—which was when they figured out it WASN’T closed, even though TWO DAYS BEFORE they sent me the letter saying I owed them $194.00.

I haven’t gotten one letter or one email from them between June 2010 and now, so of course I thought the account was closed. LIKE I REQUESTED.

But it wasn’t. So the entire time they have been erroneously dragging down MY credit score. They claim it will be resolved in 60-90 days, but frankly, that is BULLSHIT.

They wouldn’t give me 60-90 days to fix a mistake I made in paying them, but yet they can make a mistake in closing my account and it takes 60-90 days to fix my credit score.
UNFUCKINGBELIEVEABLE.

Not ONCE did they apologize.
The last representative I spoke to, Ann, representative # QNV433, even had the gall to suggest that I should have done something SOONER. HOW THE HELL WOULD I HAVE KNOWN? I’M SUPPOSED TO BE A FUCKING PSYCHIC? Apparently I DO have to pay to get my credit score sent to me every month, because I can’t trust the companies I do business with not to fuck me over.

FUCK THEM.

I will NEVER DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM EVER AGAIN. Please if you have the choice DO NOT DO BUSINESS EVER AGAIN WITH THEM AND LET EVERYONE YOU KNOW KNOW THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

I had a similar problem with Bank of America.

My home loan was with them when I was in the US.

I lost my job and called them to see if we could change payments or refinance or have payments deferred or something/anything since I knew that in a couple of months I would not be able to pay.

They REFUSED to work with me and said that after a month or two of missing payments then they MIGHT be able to work something out.

I mean… I had no job. I knew no moneys was coming. Why wait until I wracked up additional debt with you before you try to get SOMETHING out of me.

No, I know the reason.

They are money hungry vampires!

By waiting… they…

  • Gain the additional late payment fees.
  • Can raise my interest rate.
  • Ruin my credit score which then raises all my other rates (and thus giving them MORE MONEY).
  • Etc… etc…

They can all go fuck themselves (financial institutions)….

Right about now, I’m wishing this “Occupy Wall Street” movement actually had themselves better organized and I understand why my Great Aunt Bess hid her money in the walls of her house instead of giving it to a bank. It not only makes me want to NEVER do business with Capital One again, it makes me want to have NOTHING to do with ANY credit card company or ANY bank because it is SO OBVIOUS that they not only DON’T CARE about their customers, they are genuinely OUT TO GET US. I cannot recall a time in recent memory when I have been this angry. It’s just fucking disgusting. I don’t have enough money to matter, is basically the issue. Only millionaires and billionaires matter any more in this country, the rest of us are just worker drones here to generate more profit for them.
